Hello, Book Nerds! Welcome back to Reading Has Ruined My Life or welcome if you are new. As always, my name is Hannah and I am your captain on this journey into my bookcases.
Today is the day we’ve all been waiting for. It’s time of Halloween Death Match 2025 Part 2! Today is the fight to end all fights! Today two Halloween Death Match winners are back in the arena to fight for our entertainment once again. Please give a warm welcome back to Frankenstein’s Monster and Lestat de Lioncourt!
Also please give a warm welcome back to my friends Amanda, Frankie, and Katie! You know them, you love them, I love them, and it’s time for a wacky conversation about two fictional characters to find out who will triumph. A reanimated corpse who has won two previous Death Matches or a hot, sociopathic vampire who took the crown last Halloween?
Like always, my friends have been provided a handy-dandy list of strengths and weaknesses both characters possess. Everyone knows this is a death match. Everyone’s prepared. Everyone’s ready. And my friends know who will win between these two Gothic literature behemoths.
The rules are simple. Our two characters are in a Battle Royale style fight. Fans of both fighters have spent good money to come watch this battle. Two famous horror characters enter, only one may exit. This is the fight to the death. Each competitor has strengths and weaknesses that can help or hurt them in this competition. But who will win? Well…you’re about to find out!

Hannah: Welcome to Halloween Death Match 2025 Part 2! Tonight is the fight to the death between Frankenstein’s Monster, our two time Death Match winner, and last year’s Death Match winner Lestat de Lioncourt. These are the heavy weight champions.
Amanda: I don’t know about that. There’s only one heavy weight champion here.
Frankie: Nah, there are two heavy weights. But one is clearly going to win.
Amanda: And it’s Frankenstein’s Monster.
Frankie: It is.
Amanda: Yeah, that’s what I thought.
Hannah: Katie, are you also on Frankenstein’s Monster’s side?
Katie: I don’t know. I think Lestat has a pretty good chance, in my opinion.
Hannah: Let’s start there. Since you are batting for Lestat tonight, what strengths does he have that you believe could help him win?
Katie: He’s got the rapid healing, which I think is very helpful, and one of his weaknesses is the same as Frankenstein’s Monster. They both can be taken out by fire so I don’t see that coming into play tonight. Are they allowed to have tools tonight?
Hannah: Yes, there are helpful items strewn about the arena. There are some weapons down there. There’s a matchbook.
Katie: And what time is this taking place? That is a concern for the vampire.
Hannah: This starts at eight o’clock at night, but it can go on for as long as it needs to. And we are in the Colosseum, which is open. We are starting at night, so there’s no worry about the sun; at least for a little bit.
Katie: I just really think the flight, super speed, and rapid healing are pretty good counters to a lot of Frankenstein’s Monster's buffs.
Hannah: Frankenstein’s Monster also has some pretty big strengths.
Frankie: He’s got everything but the rapid healing.
Hannah: Yes, everything but the rapid healing.
Katie: He can’t fly.
Frankie: He has fast healing though. And while he can’t fly, he can jump pretty high. And he can run 70-miles-per-hour casually–
Katie: Lestat’s still hard to kill.
Frankie: –and if he’s running with purpose he’s running over 200-miles-per-hour.
Katie: We don’t know how fast Lestat is. He also has super strength.
Hannah: Their powers are very similar.
Frankie: Their powers are similar, and they both have the same fire weakness so that eliminates the use of fire.
Hannah: They are both very smart men so you don’t think one of them will try to burn the other?
Frankie: They’re going to try to outsmart the other, but they can’t.
Katie: I think this one could genuinely be a tie.
Frankie: The reason I picked Frankenstein’s Monster is because he has one advantage. I think this is a big advantage in this fight, and that is Lestat needs blood. He needs to drink blood and the only possible source in the arena is someone he can’t actually drink from.
Amanda: Yeah, if Frankenstein’s Monster does have blood it’s Dead Man’s Blood.
Katie: Let’s assume Lestat had a really big meal before showing up.
Hannah: They are both coming into this match at one hundred percent.
Amanda: I know there are people watching this event, can’t Lestat go munch on a viewer?
Frankie: I assumed that wasn’t legal.
Hannah: Listen, I’m not disallowing it. If he wants to charm someone’s pants off and have a drink, I’ll allow it as long as he gets the person’s consent.
Amanda: Oh, I thought you were going to say he would be disqualified. Sorry, Frankie, I actually just hurt our chances.
Katie: That’s a big boon then.
Frankie: Amanda, you’ve destroyed our cause!
Amanda: I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to! I really thought Hannah was going to say no. I didn’t think she’d be okay with it.
Hannah: Listen, there is no disqualification. The only way we’re getting out of here, the only way this match can end, is in death.
Frankie: I still think that the need to drink blood–
Amanda: That is a weakness. Frankenstein’s Monster can just go and not get tired. Lestat will get tired.
Katie: Hannah just said Lestat could take a snack break.
Hannah: Oh, I’m not allowing it to be a break. I never said it was a break.
Frankie: So while he’s feeding, Frankenstein’s Monster can just jump up there and rip Lestat’s head off.
Amanda: That’s what I’m thinking.
Katie: It’s not going to take that long.
Amanda: Well feedings can take a while. Especially if you’re draining somebody. Have you ever gotten your blood drawn?
Katie: Girl, I was talking about the fight.
Amanda: Oh…
Frankie: I don’t see a way where either side ends this quickly. Originally like you Katie, I thought this was going to be a tie. I think the fight will keep going and going and going, until eventually Lestat will have to feed.
Katie: Not unless he kills Frankenstein’s Monster first.
Frankie: I don’t think Lestat can beat him first. I don’t think there is anything Lestat can do that won’t be countered by Frankenstein’s Monster.
Amanda: Yeah, these Pokémon are evenly matched.
Katie: Lestat can dismember his opponent.
Frankie: Frankenstein’s Monster can dismember Lestat!
Amanda: Exactly!
Frankie: And, if I remember correctly, Frankenstein’s Monster is pretty good with some weaponry.
Amanda: Didn’t he read Paradise Lost and become the smartest man alive? So even if he wasn’t, he would pick up the skill really fast?
Katie: Just by reading Paradise Lost?! That’s all it takes!?
Amanda: Hannah…?
Hannah: (with a laugh) Yes, all you have to do to become the smartest person is read Paradise Lost.
Frankie: And understand it. You can’t just read it.
Katie: God, it’s not that deep, I’m sorry.
Amanda: Katie, I agree with you, it’s not that deep. But based on Frankenstein, reading Paradise Lost is what made the monster smart. So therefore, num-chuks. Frankenstein’s Monster touches one and he knows how to use em now. Smartest man alive.
Frankie: So I lied, Frankenstein’s Monster doesn’t use weapons in the book. I misremembered.
Hannah: I was going to say, I do not remember him picking up a weapon in the book. But he is a quick learner.
Amanda: Isn’t Frankenstein’s Monster really ugly? And Lestat loves beautiful things. Isn’t Lestat going to have a hard time looking at him? That’s going to give Frankenstein’s Monster an opening.
Hannah: Lestat would one hundred percent tell Frankenstein’s Monster he’s ugly.
Katie: Lestat is a huge asshole. It would be really easy for him to cause Frankenstein’s Monster to have a temper tantrum.
Frankie: He doesn’t have temper tantrums unless they’re towards Victor.
Amanda: Right.
Katie: Lestat can insult his Daddy Issues a bunch.
Amanda: Doesn’t Lestat also have Daddy Issues?
Hannah: No, he gives other people Daddy Issues.
Frankie: The issue is this. They both have super strength, they both have super speed–
Amanda: The only difference between them is that one is significantly prettier than the other.
Frankie: I’m not taking into account physical appearance cause who cares.
Amanda: I am. Hannah, make sure this is in the post.
Hannah: Do you just want to say Sam Reid is pretty again?
Amanda: He’s soooo pretty.
Frankie: Anyway, both competitors have rapid healing, they’re both essentially immortal, they’re both weak to fire, it takes a lot to weaken both of them.
Amanda: But one of them needs to eat and the other one does not!
Frankie: One of them has flight. Lestat can fly, I’ll give him that, but even then the flight, should he use it, he’ll need to come into range eventually. And Lestat, eventually, does need to eat.
Amanda: I feel that if Lestat did try to fly down, Frankenstein’s Monster would catch him by the throat.
Katie: I still think Lestat can do it.
Frankie: Is Lestat afraid of fire? I know Frankenstein’s Monster doesn’t necessarily fear it, he’s more wary of it.
Amanda: I think he knows fire can hurt him.
Hannah: Yeah, I wouldn’t say Lestat is afraid of fire. Remember that he was alive during a time when fire was an integral part of life. He knows that it was, at one point, very necessary to life and survival, but he also knows that it can harm others and himself. Frankenstein’s Monster, on the other hand, views fire as deceptive and harmful.
Frankie: Well another weakness here for Lestat is that if this fight gets dragged out, he will need to feed. He knows he can’t feed from Frankenstein’s Monster so he’ll have to feed from someone in the audience, thus giving Frankenstein’s Monster an opening. But Lestat also can’t be out in the sun. If this fight gets dragged on all night, Lestat will be burned and weakened by the sun leaving another opening for Frankenstein’s Monster. I do think that as a manipulator, Lestat could try to manipulate Frankenstein’s Monster’s Daddy Issues. But the Monster is intelligent enough to know Lestat isn't Victor. If Victor was there, or Lestat could somehow transform into Victor, then it would be game over for the Monster. But Lestat is not able to transform.
Amanda: It’s game over. Frankenstein’s Monster is the smartest man alive. Well…he’s the smartest man alive and he’s got Daddy Issues. So take that as you will.
Hannah: I don’t know how to take that.
Amanda: It’s okay. No one does.
Katie: I think if Lestat can kill Frankenstein’s Monster before morning or before he has to eat again, then Lestat could win. But Frankie and Amanda have made good points against him.
Hannah: Katie, how do you see Lestat winning this?
Amanda: Yeah, cause I don’t think Anne Rice ever made a vampire sunscreen.
Katie: I think he would have to immediately hit the Victor sore spot. There would be a really hard fight for a good while, but Lestat keeps hitting that sore spot and gains the upper hand before tearing Frankenstein’s Monster to shreds.
Hannah: So this is both a physical and a mental fight?
Katie: Yes, but like I said, he’d have to do all of this before he got thirsty again or the sun came up.
Amanda: I do think this would be the best match your audience has had since Frankenstein’s Monster v. Dracula, Hannah.
Katie: These two are very closely matched.
Hannah: Do we think there are any weapons involved in this fight? Are these two sword fighting? Are they throwing knives? Are they trying to club each other?
Katie: I think there could be swords.
Frankie: Yeah, it would be fun.
Amanda: That would be fun. I think Frankenstein’s Monster would definitely stay away from the pitchforks though. I think he’s had a bad experience with them. And I think if Lestat picked up a pitchfork, it would be game over.
Frankie: I don’t think Frankenstein’s Monster would lose because Lestat picked up a pitchfork.
Katie: Listen, I just think Lestat is going to play mind games with Frankenstein’s Monster to throw him off his game. Then Lestat will beat the shit out of the Monster before dismembering him.
Hannah: Amanda, how do you think Frankenstein’s Monster is going to win?
Amanda: As we’ve said, they’re pretty evenly matched. I think it’s going to be a lot of countering the other’s powers and attacks. I’m sure Lestat will get a few good hits in. But eventually Lestat will have to eat and Frankenstein’s Monster is going to use that opportunity to destroy Lestat.
Hannah: The minute Lestat goes for food, it’s over for him?
Amanda: Yep. If Lestat doesn’t go for food, he’s just going to get weaker and weaker which will also give Frankenstein’s Monster an edge.
Hannah: And how is Lestat’s death happening?
Amanda: Frankenstein’s Monster is just gonna body check Lestat to the ground, rip him limb from limb, and then light him on fire.
Hannah: Oh, so you think he’s going to bring fire into this?
Amanda: Yeah, I’m imagining Frankenstein’s Monster is gonna grab a torch or something and lights Lestat up. Maybe for good measure, he’ll put Lestat’s head on a spike. That’s what I would do.
Hannah: Frankie, what are your thoughts? How does this battle go? How does Frankenstein’s Monster win for the third time?
Frankie: Lestat is going to go for the quick kill, as Katie said, but Frankenstein’s Monster is going to be a little too ready. He’s already won twice, he knows what to expect. So he’s gonna stop Lestat real fast. But they are going to have a pretty big fight. They’re each going to get in some good shots that make the audience think the end is here, but both competitors will rapid heal just in the nick of time. Morning will come, the sun will slowly start to creep up, and Lestat is going to need to get into some shade. So he’s going to start running. Frankenstein’s Monster will let him get a little bit of distance in, but Frankenstein’s Monster is just waiting so he can hit Lestat as he’s running at that 200-mile-per-hour speed. As Lestat is on the ground, Frankenstein’s Monster is just going to tear Lestat’s head off. And he walks away. No theatrics, no gloating, he just throws the head onto the ground and walks away.
Amanda: It would be really funny if he threw the head into the audience like a baseball.
Frankie: Nah, he doesn’t need to gloat. This is his third win.
Amanda: No! He needs to gloat.
Frankie: But he doesn’t, and that’s what makes him a true champion.
Amanda: I would have thrown the head. Or put it on a spike.
Hannah: Oh my god, I still don’t know who wins! * beat * Just for the record, we don’t think Lestat will try to charm Frankenstein’s Monster?
Frankie: I think he will try. He’s a manipulator. He’s going to try, but Frankenstein’s Monster isn’t trusting enough, or stupid enough, to fall for it.
Hannah: Okay. I have made my decision. A drum roll please!

Hannah: As you have all said, this is a long battle. This is the longest one since the first ever Halloween Death Match. This battle lasts all through the night. These OP creatures are both holding their own, there is fighting, there is blood. Both competitors have been in these battles before, they both won, they both know this is a fight to the death, and at the end of the day they both want to survive. But I think Lestat’s very few weaknesses are going to bite him in the ass seeing as Frankenstein’s Monster has none. So as the sun is beginning to rise, I do believe Frankenstein’s Monster is going to charge Lestat. I think he is going to rip Lestat’s head off, and he will toss it into the center of the colosseum. Lestat put up a good fight, but the sun weakens him and that’s what did him in. I truly had no idea who was going to win tonight, but Frankie convinced me with the fact that Frankenstein’s Monster is too smart to be manipulated by Lestat.
Frankie: Thank you. And listen, Lestat is good at manipulating people, but what happens when you meet someone who can’t be manipulated?
Hannah: Well in this case, they die. And this is the end of Halloween Death Match 2025. Frankenstein’s Monster is now a three time champion. We’ll see you all again next year for Halloween Death Match 2026.
